A 20-man team was due to camp at Nakawa on Monday ahead of the CECAFA Cup kick-off in Nairobi January 20. The league champions will now take up the programme after seven of their players - T. Batabaire, H. Magumba, A. Mukasa, H. Mbalangu, R. Tumusiime, N. Kizito and H. Kalyesubula - with the Cranes return to the team. Cranes are getting set for an African Nations Cup game against Senegal on Saturday. Coach Paul Hasule said, the changes were made after a meeting. He said the absence of the seven players affected his plans. Villa, seeking a second CECAFA title after the 1987 triumph, begin their campaign on January 22 against Sudanese giants El Merreikh, the team they beat in the 1987 final in Kampala. The Villa side has been boosted by arrival of former team coach Englishman Geoff Hudson. Iganga Town Council FC has dissolved the entire team, including the officials, in a move to strengthen the side ahead of the 2001 soccer season. Club patron Ismael Kyeyago said at the club's fundraising function yesterday that the club had started fresh recruitment of players. They target recruits from Police, relegated Nile and neighbours SCOUL. "Old players willing to come back are advised to re-apply, said Kyeyago, also the mayor of Iganga. Veep Specioza Kazibwe, through her political assistant John Cotton contributed sh1m of the 4.6m realised from the fundraising. Iganga released a season's budget of sh100m but said they were still short of sh63 million. Ends.
