By Catherine Kigozi Presidential candidate Mohamed Kibirige Mayanja has said President Yoweri Museveni is using his 1996 manifesto to fulfill his national programmes. Kibirige yesterday told Muslims at Masjid Taqwa Mosque in Kisenyi near Owino Market, that in 1996, he launched the best manifesto in the country. He said the manifesto was "snatched" by Museveni to implement his programmes. Mayanja, however, said he had revised his 2001 manifesto to "perfection." "I'm the only candidate with the best manifesto among the presidential candidates. Because of its content, Museveni is using it to implement his programmes," Kibirige said. "My 1996 manifesto addressed Universal Primary Education and integrity, which Museveni put in place after reading. With my ideas being borrowed, I believe I still have new ideas for Ugandans," he said. Kibirige said his manifesto addresses a number of issues like corruption and inequality in the Government. He said his main objective was to curb and destroy corruption which he said other leaders had failed to do. Kibirige, who rushed through Owino Market, almost went unnoticed as people continued with their work. A few who saw him instead chanted Museveni and Sebaggala slogans. "For us we only know three presidential candidates, Museveni, Nasser Sebaggala and may be Kizza Besigye," an Owino Market trader shouted at him. Ends.
