PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni's National Task Force chairman, Alhajji Moses Kigongo, has called for vigilance by security organs to tame the rising violence in the run-up to the presidential elections. Kigongo, who is also the Movement vice-chairman, told Luweero supporters on Thursday, where Museveni's campaign agent Paul Muzira was murdered, that, "we shall contact the minister in charge of security (Muruli Mukasa) to see that security, especially in Luweero is improved." Muzira, the headmaster of Nnalinya Lwantale Primary School in Ndejje, Luweero, was gunned down on Wednesday and his car taken. He was the head of the institutions desk of Museveni's district task force. On Monday, a vehicle driven by presidential candidate Col Kizza Besigye's campaign team was shot at in Kampala as they hung campaign posters. On the same day, two buses carrying his supporters after nomination at Kololo Airstrip, were shot at and two people injured. The convoy was heading for Rukungiri. "Wrongdoers tend to take advantage of the election period to terrorise the population. Those committing such crimes should stand warned that they will be dealt with accordingly," Kigongo said at Museveni's re-election campaign at Kiziba Primary School, Kikyusa sub-county. The rally was addressed by President Museveni, Vice-president Specioza Kazibwe and State minister for defence Steven Kavuma. Kigongo appealed to Museveni's supporters to avoid acts that could lead to violence. He said they should be on the look out for criminals wishing to destabilise the election process. "We received with shock the news of Paul Muzira's death. We had just started working with him and some people decided to take away his life," Kigongo said. Luweero LC5 chairman Hajji Abdul Nadduli condemned the murder. He appealed to the residents to help the security agents apprehend the killers. Kigongo said Kikyusa was vital to the Movement's struggle because it provided the force that ended dictatorship in Uganda. Ends.
