By Peter Ekarot THE League sponsorship saga between leading clubs Villa, Express and KCC and Nile Breweries took a strange twist yesterday when the other 12 teams in the League called for FUFA secretary Godfrey Kisekka to resign. The three giants, under their umbrella association - VEK - are seeking to pull out of the Nile sponsorship of the Nile Special Super League saying they want more than the sh220m package Nile and their partners - MTN, Shell and Coca-Cola - are offering. They are reported to have got a sh300m deal from Uganda Breweries Limited. But Chicago United chairman Yusuf Kyeyune Chuni, spokesman for the other 12 clubs, said Kisekka, who has showed support for VEK, must first resign. "It was beyond respect and reason to allow VEK officials confronting and embarrassing our sponsor in the Nile Special league seminar (Friday)," Chuni said. "He is mixing KCC matters with federation affairs. We, the 12 small teams, say no; Kisekka should resign if he wants to be a VEK man." Several other club officials have accused Kisekka of siding with VEK. Kisekka is a former KCC vice chairman and now holds an advisory role at the club. Chuni said tomorrow's meeting with Nile Breweries chief executive director Henry Rudd should be stopped and called on Super Division Clubs Association (SDCA) to meet and discuss the crisis. Ends.
