The Sazza Chief of Kyaggwe Ssekiboobo David Ssekindi, has clarified that he is not on candidate Yoweri Museveni's re-election task force, or any presidential campaign team as reported in the media, writes Josephine Maseruka. Ssekindi told The New Vision on Monday that he regretted that some movement supporters were using several tricks, including deceit during the presidential campaigns. "If you consider my case, I was appointed on the Museveni task force before I was consulted. I have never taken up the role and I will not do it," he said. He wondered why movement supporters had always wanted Mengo not to engage in partisan politics and yet they are including Mengo officials on campaign teams. "Appointing Mengo officials on Museveni's task force without consulting them is a real provocation," he said. Ssekindi explained that when Kabaka Mutebi appointed them as county chiefs, he cautioned them against engaging in partisan politics, dividing people basing on ethnicity, religious and political affiliations. "Therefore appointing me on the Museveni campaign team is to provoke me to defy the Kabaka's directive," Ssekindi stated. Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere recently directed that Mengo officials wishing to engage in politics should take leave until after the elections are over. Many Mengo officials are campaigning for different candidates. Ends
