A SORCERER shocked Luweero Court on Thursday when he admitted that he was a cannibal and had eaten seven corpses, reports Frederick Kiwanuka. "We are a family of cannibals. I feel bad if I take long without eating human flesh," the 23-year-old Ssande Sserwadda told a packed court. Chief Magistrate Isaac Muwata sentenced him to nine months in prison. The accused was convicted of trespassing on a burial site, contrary to section 114 of the Penal Code Act. He was three days earlier arrested with a human limb which the prosecution wanted to tender in court as exhibit, had he denied the charge. After being convicted, Sserwadda stunned prison warders, when he demanded that he be taken to prison with the human leg, which the Police were keeping as exhibit. State prosecutor Emmanuel Ojambo said Sserwadda committed the offence on January 22 at Kiwanguzi, Bamunanika. The accused said the charge was true when it was translated for him in Luganda. Muwata said the offence carried a maximum sentence of three years' in jail. He said although the accused was a sorcerer, he had saved court's time by readily pleading guilty. Ends
