By William Muwonge THE national soccer league kick off is being delayed by NFLC's failure to raise sh2m to inspect playing venues. National Football League Committee vice chairman Livingstone Rajan said, the committee's league plans are held up by lack of funds. Local soccer's premier event, comprising 15 teams, was due to started yesterday. Instead, the Inter Cities competition that got underway last Saturday is being held. The event ends on Saturday. "I am yet to get sh2m to dispatch a team to inspect the grounds," Rajan said. "I will send my people to look at the grounds when the money is secured." Asked when the money could be got, Rajan was non-committal. "I am trying my level best to get the money, other things will then follow," Rajan said. The facilities to be inspected include Kabale grounds to be used by newly promoted Horizon team, Nakivubo, Ssaza grounds for Iganga, Mbale Municipal Stadium for Mbale Heroes FC. Other sources say the VEK-Nile Breweries saga could also be delaying kick off of the league. VEK, a body bringing together three top teams Villa, Express and KCC recently threatened to pull out of the Nile Breweries league sponsorship arrangement under Nile Special flagship saying it is inadequate. VEK is reported to have clinched a sh300m deal with Uganda Breweries Ltd. Each club would get sh 100m annually. UBL's interest in the three clubs is testing the Nile Breweries' three-year sponsorship contract ending next year. Ends
