By Kezio Musoke THE main stream Democratic Party (DP) led by Paul Ssemogerere has disassociated itself from the resolutions made by the splinter DP National Council meeting at Hotel Africana recently. The Ssemogerere group also said until the party president calls for a national delegates conference to elect new new leaders, the said meeting was illegal. A statement signed by DP Secretary General Damiano Lubega said, "DP has distanced itself from the purported National Council meeting that sat at Hotel Africana on February 6." The DP splinter group, led by presidential candidate Francis Bwengye, had 36 members of the National Executive Committee and 45 district chairmen at the two-day workshop. It resolved to relieve Ssemogerere of the party presidency. The meeting was attended by MPs Wasswa Lule, Zachary Olum and Rainer Kafire. DP founder members, Alphonse Ntale and Louis Tyaba attended the meeting. Lubega, however, said in the statement that DP's last National Council meeting sat on April 15th 2000. The group said candidate Bwengye had hidden intentions. Ends
