Government Releases Over Sh79m For Bicycles

MBARARA LC5 chairman Fred Kamugira has said government has released sh79.56m to purchase 936 bicycles to be distributed to councillors in 52 districts of Uganda.

By Vision Reporter MBARARA LC5 chairman Fred Kamugira has said government has released sh79.56m to purchase 936 bicycles to be distributed to councillors in 52 districts of Uganda. Kamugira said this recently during the handing over ceremony of cheques worth sh9m to 20 youths from various parts of Mbarara district under the Youth Enterprise Scheme. "18 bicycles worth sh1.53m to be given to 18 councillors in the district have reached the district headquarters," he said. Kamukuzi told the beneficiaries at the council hall not to inject the loans given to them in the ongoing election politics. G. Beekunda Mwene Kacwa, the chief guest and commissioner of poverty eradication, economic and civil rights under the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, told the beneficiaries to specifically inject the money in business. Beekunda said, "government is not neglecting youths as it is alleged. we have given out money for development to the youth in various districts." Ends
