By Hillary Kiirya A HOUSEWIFE in Makindye who poured sulphuric acid on her rival's face, was recently convicted and sentenced to six-years imprisonment for causing grievous harm. The Luweero Chief magistrate, Jane Alividza, while delivering the judgement at Makindye Chief Magistrates' Court, said prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. Teopista Nalwanga, 18, of Zana Kirimya zone in Makindye, was however acquitted of charges of attempted murder. The convict, through her lawyer, asked court for a lenient sentence saying she was pregnant, had respiratory problems and had to under go a throat plastic surgery soon. The prosecutor, Catherine Wamukota, dismissed the request saying that since the convict had caused the victim permanent scars, the jail term would make Nalwanga reform and also serve as a warning to those who opted to do the same in future.
