By Edris Kisambira THE deputy Mufti, Sheikh Twaib Mukuye, has appealed to Muslims to participate in the coming presidential elections but to strictly observe peace. Speaking at Old Kampala mosque before Idd prayers yesterday, Mukuye said everyone was free to elect a candidate of their choice. He, however, asked them to vote wisely in order not to plunge the country into turmoil. "Vote wisely because that vote is your future. If you do not vote wisely, your future will be bleak," Mukuye said. The Mufti, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, is in Mecca representing Ugandan Muslims in this year's pilgrimage. Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni congratulated the Muslim community for celebrating Idd Aduha, a release from the presidential press secretary, Hope Kivengere, said yesterday. Museveni asked the Muslims to "follow Prophet Muhammad's spirit of sacrifice, trustworthiness and obedience to Allah." Mukuye thanked Museveni for fulfilling his promise of a vehicle to the Mufti. He appealed to those who made pledges to develop the Muslim Council headquarters to honour them as soon as possible. Presidential candidate Kibirige Mayanja, and former Mufti Sheik Semakula attended the prayers. Ends
