By Douglas Mazune WORLD motor sport governing body, FIA has told the Automobile Association of Uganda (AAU) to relinquish motor sport powers, The New Vision can reveal. Reports from France indicate that AAU president Roger Ddungu who met FIA officials in Paris to explain AAU's position on Ugandan rallying, was at the meeting told to relinquish power. However, the source did could not confirm whether AAU has been ordered to hand over power to the rival FMU, which now holds local powers, or to a neutral body. Ddungu, was in France at the time FIA Karting commission president Leon Yvon was due to investigate the wrangles in Uganda late last month Leon's trip to Uganda was inexplicably called off last month. "They met Ddungu in France and now Leon is not coming to Uganda, they (AAU) have been told to hand over power before the end of June," the source said. Yvon was scheduled to get his findings from National Council of Sports (NCS), AAU, FMU, clubs, drivers and sponsors. The local season has started inspite of the wrangles. Ends
