Uganda invited for military games in Kenya

By Reuben Olita in Nairobi UGANDA is one of 22 countries that will participate in the Military Games to be hosted by Kenya next year. Council President Col. Dr. Gianni Gola made the announcement at the end of the Annual General Assembly for Africa Military Sports Council in Nairobi. The games will feature 10 disciplines Col. Gola said golf and tae-kwondo have already landed lucrative sponsorship, adding that they have sent in requests to member states and the International Olympic Committee to step in and sponsor other disciplines. During the Assembly, a new body, East and Central African Liason Office (ECALO) Challenge was launched to reactivate and attract other countries' national militaries to join and expand the international military sports council. Kenya's Lt. John Koech was appointed to head ECALO that becomes the fifth military liason office to be launched in Africa. Dr. Gola said the world military games governing council would support Africa in its endeavours to elevate the standards of sports within the military forces. It will also boos Pan-Africanism, he said. Ends
