By Justin Moro THE Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, Alex Joseph Apecu, has said the Lords Resistance Army rebels of Joseph Kony attacked the home of the Kitgum Anglican bishop, Rev. Baker Ochola, because he attended president Yoweri Museveni campaign rally on January 20. Apecu was last week addressing Kitgum district veterans at Kitgum Court Hall. Apecu also the chairman of Kitgum district security committee, said he got the information on the attack of the bishop from the children who were abducted from his (Ochola's) home but later released. Apecu called upon the veterans to tell the rebels to respond to the amnesty law and come out of the bush so that peace and harmony could return to the area. He said the rebels who attacked the bishop's home on January 23 were causing panic and terror in the district. Apecu decried the killing of seven people by the LRA rebels in an ambush at Cwero, Gulu district last week. The district accountant, Alfred Okello, was killed in the incident. "Now rebel sympathisers are saying it was the UPDF soldiers who attacked the bishop's home and ambushed the vehicle in Cwero. This is not true." Apecu said. Colonel Fred Tolit, the deputy army chief of staff, the UPDF 503-brigade commander Major Richard Kiwanuka, Kitgum district Police commander Betty Akello and the DISO Lt. Okot Lapolo attended the meeting. Apecu said residents should stop having a negative attitude towards government. Ends
