SIR-Your article "Museveni meets Mayombo over Colonel Besigye", said : "He said suspected politicians must seek permission from Museveni or the security minister before leaving the country." I cannot tell you what a spectacle this election in Uganda has turned out to be from the view of us outside Uganda. Col Mayombo's contention that "suspected politicians" must ask President Yoweri Museveni for permission to leave the country turns the Government into a policeman of people's personal lives. Uganda was beginning to hold out hope for a great future. People cannot express divergent views at the cost of their personal liberty. Dr Samuel Little, Virginia, USA
