By Yunusu Abbey in Tripoli, Libya THE Vice-President, Dr. Speciosa Kazibwe, has met the Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gadaffi, one of the brains behind the Organisation of African Union formation. The private meeting took place at Gaddafi's tightly-guarded palace in Tripoli. Reports said their discussions centered on the Pan-African woman conference that was due to open yesterday in Tripoli. They also discussed the Great Lakes region and relations between Uganda and Libya. Kazibwe is the chairperson of the African Women in Peace and Development, a Libyan-funded body advocating for women's rights in the newly-formed Organ-isation of African Union body. Kazibwe, who arrived in Libya on Friday with a 100-member Ugandan delegation for the conference, was transported by a Libyan-registered Mid-West Airlines Airbus plane from Entebbe Airport. The excited Ugandans, mostly drawn from the countryside, sang and danced soon after the plane had taken off from Entebbe. The women, some travelling by plane for the first time, praised Kazibwe and Gaddafi for having accorded them such a privilege. The women were due to march on the streets of Tripoli yesterday as a gesture of solidarity. Meanwhile, the Libyan-chartered Airbus, which picked the Ugandan delegation from Entebbe Airport, was the only plane to land in Tripoli on Friday. Other incoming flights could not land at Tripoli International Air-port due to bad weather. All Friday's flights were diverted to Tunisia and Chad due to the strong and dusty winds in Tripoli that made visibility difficult to pilots. Ends
