By John Thawite THE army has released Major Patrick Muhindo after holding him for over a month over the March 17 attack on Kasese town. Also released was the Kilembe Mines Marketing Manager, Godfrey Kabyanga, who was also arrested over the attack. The UPDF Second Division spokesman, Lt. Milton Katarinyeba, on Sunday said Muhindo had "expressed great shock" at his release. Katarinyeba said, "There was some information we wanted from him." He did not elaborate. The chief magistrate's court in Kasese recently remanded Muhindo's former driver, Kaida Byaruhanga, and Mrs. Asiimwe Kibinduka to Mubuku Government Prison over the attack. The prosecution said Byaruhanga, a special Police constable attached to the army mess in Kasese, Asiimwe and others still at large, were part of the group that attacked the town. They were not allowed to enter plea as the case is only triable by the High Court. Ten people were killed, six others injured and a primary five pupil, Ake Kagaba, abducted during the attack. Two houses and two vehicles, including Muhindo's, were burnt. Three Police officers were court-martialled following President Yoweri Museveni's directive that action be taken against them. He accused them of cowardice, saying they should have defended the town. Ends
