By Charles Ariko OVER 800 refugees are in Kampala to do interviews pending resettlement in the US, an official at the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Wednesday. The UNHCR information officer, Jafar Bushra, said the refugees are temporarily being accommodated at different locations in the city suburbs as they wait to do interviews expected to end this week. Bushra said each refugee family is to receive sh10,000 daily for food. She refuted press reports that Sudanese refugees housed at Kazinga zone in Bweyogerere were going without food. She, however, said the Sudanese refugees were due to be shifted to another location she did not name. "There are 800 refugees waiting to do interviews countrywide. The interviews are part of the resettlement process to the USA," she said adding that the refugees do the interviews in groups. "After the interviews, we shall take them back to their various camps in a week or so," Bushra said. However, when The New Vision visited Kazinga zone on Wednesday morning, LC officials there said the Sudanese refugees were still residing in the area. They refused to divulge details about the refugees. Ends
