TESO elders have formed an interim committee to steer investigations into the Teso-Karamoja land dispute.

By Richard Otim TESO elders have formed an interim committee to steer investigations into the Teso-Karamoja land dispute. The committee of five, led by former Obote I minister and Member of Parliament Cuthbert Obwangor, was elected last Thursday at a meeting at the Soroti District Development Programme boardroom. The meeting was held to discuss claims by the Karimojong in Moroto district that their border with Katakwi is 40km into Katakwi district. The elders agreed to work with all the parties in the dispute. "We should help our leaders and people acquire a proper thinking on the border dispute," Obwangor said. He added, "A constitutionally established boundary can never be altered by just a single group and it is not a simple matter that can be resolved lightly." Ends
