By Peter Ekarot THE first ever goalkeeper and goalkeepers trainers' course will run next month in Kampala under German expert Thomas Roy. The course, to be held at Mandela National stadium, Namboole, will run from June 4-15. It will draw 40 goalkeepers from super and first division clubs with the same number of goalkeeper trainers, coaches, and assistant coaches. Roy comes to Kampala under the German Development and Technical Cooperation while national technical director Guenter Zittel will be the project director. "I have noted since I came to Uganda last year that there's a serious goalkeeping problem. The performance of Ugandan goalkeepers at all levels has been low and we want this course to try and help reverse the trend," said Zittel. The German expert has to develop and prepare teaching materials. Roy is a member of the Bavarian Football Association of Coaches and a German Football Federation (DFB) goalkeeper's coach. r The Germany government has pledged more technical support to Ugandan soccer. Germany Deputy head of mission Karin Stoll made the pledge at the Embassy offices while handing over an international DFB soccer-coaching certificate to Asumani Lubowa. Lubowa and Leo Adraa last year attended a one-month international coaching course in Frankfurt also attracted several coaches including former Bafana Bafana coach Trot Moloto. Ends
