By Peter Ekarot THE Confederation of African Football and FUFA yesterday sent condolences to Ghana Football Association upon the death of 130 fans in Wednesday's Accra stampede. CAF president Issa Hayatou, in Uganda at the time of the tragedy, told The New Vision that such tragedies always undermine Africa's potential to stage major soccer events. "CAF would like to send its condolences to Ghana FA," Hayatou said. "However such tragedies should never happen again in African football ahead of major soccer competitions." FIFA has awarded Africa the right to host the 2010 World Cup. FUFA general secretary Godfrey Kisekka said the Ghana incident was a warning in controlling crowds that will be entering Mandela National stadium, Namboole for tomorrow's CAF champions league between SC Villa and Nigeria's Julius Berger. "We join the people of Ghana in mourning their loved ones," Kisekka said. "We must be careful. FUFA will work with Villa in limiting Saturday's crowd into Namboole to 50,000 to avoid any tragedy like that." Hayatou, who travelled with CAF vice chairman Farah Addo, ended his two-day visit to Uganda yesterday. Ends
