UGANDA Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has announced that Constantine Karusoke is now in charge of the complaints and investigation department, reports John Kakande. In a statement issued at the weekend, the UHRC spokesperson, Marion Ddamulira, said commissioner Joel Aliro-Omara, who has been in charge of the department, is now in charge of the monitoring and treaties department. Ddamulira said the changes were part of a general re-organisation of the UHRC departments. Sources, however, told The New Vision that Aliro-Omara had been pressurised by authorities to vacate the post. Karusoke has been in charge of prison issues. Ddamulira's statement said the commission's legal council, Steven Mungoma, will no longer handle complaints. Mungoma was transferred to the office of the chairperson but his duties were unspecified. He had been head of the legal and complaints department. Burhan Byenkya is the new head of complaints and investigation department while Mr. Wangolo took over finance and administration department.
