OVER 15 people are admitted to Mulago hospital with injuries sustained in last night three simultaneous bomb attacks in Kampala, writes Vision Reporters. Police sources said three grenades went off, two inside moving vehicles and another at the entrance to the new taxi park in Kampala. The first blast went off inside a commuter taxi at about 8:30pm at Maganjo, on Bombo road. The number of casualties from this incident had by last night not been established. Another one went off in Natete, opposite Holiday Hotel. Three people are reported to have been injured in this attack. The explosive is said to have been hidden inside another city commuter, number UAA 124R. About 20 minutes later, another explosive went off at the new taxi park, injuring nine people. The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen Edward Katumba Wamala, said at least 10 people were injured in the Natete and taxi park blasts. "We have sealed off the areas. We shall have more details later. Initial indicators show that Improvised Explosive Devices (home made bombs) were used." The motive of the attacks could not easily be established by press time. Sources in the casualty ward at Mulago said they had recorded 11 victims by press time last night. By 9.00 p.m. last night, the Police had cordoned off the scenes in Natete and the taxi park where pieces of broken glass and shrapnel were strewn. The commuter with a shattered rear screen remained parked at the scene. Witnesses said the shrapnel, which also cut some woman passenger, shattered the conductor's hand. Ends
