By Peter Ekarot FUFA is to receive an assortment of equipment, including a fax, from the German Football Federation (DFB) at the end of June. Guenter Zittel, the national soccer technical director disclosed to The New Vision that a fax machine, footballs, jerseys, cones, football pumps and goal nets will be shipped to Uganda soon. DFB was assigned to give material and financial assistance to Uganda, Togo, Namibia and Cameroon under the UEFA/CAF Meridian Project pact where the wealthy European federations help needy African associations. The Uganda football federation offices at Nakulabye do not have a fax machine, and this will help improve communication. The only fax machine FUFA has is at secretary Godfrey Kisekka's home. "Meridian Project equipment is to help in advancement of Ugandan soccer and it would be very important for the ministry to help and clear the equipment on arrival at Entebbe Airport," said Zittel. Meanwhile, German expert Thomas Roy started a course for goalkeepers, taking players and trainers in physical techniques at Lugogo KCC training ground yesterday. Only 25 out of 40 people turned up for the course. "I am here to try and help Ugandans on the basics of goalkeeping that is one of the key areas in soccer," said the youthful, but experienced instructor. Nile Special Super League leaders Mbarara United, Chicago, Masaka LC goalkeepers are missing. Ex-professional and Revenue FC coach Jackson Mayanja is among the trainers together with Simba's Mike Mutebi, Frank Ssebagala and Fred Kajoba. Women goalkeepers Maggie Lutalo, Annet Nakimbugwe, Harriet Kayonjo and Sylvia Nagawa attended. Ends
