Juventus starts strongly in U-14 league

JUVENTUS made a superb start in the champions' league of the City Tyres under-14 tournament at the weekend.

The Makindye Division team emerged victorious over Binyonyi and Young Simba in the opening matches on Saturday. The Nakivubo thriller which was also part of the expanded U-14 league saw Juventus celebrate a 3-1 against Binyonyi from Hoima before they hammered Young Simba from Bombo 3-0 in another entertaining match. The hectic weekend programme also put Mayors of Entebbe in a 2-1 victory over Nakawa based Mutungo. Elsewhere in Kampala, Manchester Seeta was held to a 2- all draw by Sharing from Mityana as Amudat emerged 3-1 victors over Mbarara based Katente at Makerere sports main ground. Twenty-one under-14 teams from the country are taking part in the expanded league organised by Friends of Football (FOF) with Kampala based firm City Tyres and the Family Planning Association of Uganda (FPAU) as sponsors. According to FOF official ex-international Robert Aloro ten top teams will qualify for the second round set for June 16 and 17. ends
