A TOTAL of 20 pupils of Bumooli Primary School in Bugiri district have dropped out of school because of pregnancy, the probation and welfare officer, Steven Magero, said on Friday.

By Nathan Etengu A TOTAL of 20 pupils of Bumooli Primary School in Bugiri district have dropped out of school because of pregnancy, the probation and welfare officer, Steven Magero, said on Friday. He said the girls who dropped out of school were below the age of 15 when they became pregnant. Magero made the revelations during the district's celebrations to mark the Day of the African Child at Muterere Primary School. He said some of the children were made pregnant by teachers and others by fellow pupils. "I wanted to arrest the suspects but the parents were uncooperative. They frustrated my efforts," Magero said. He said the district ranked highest in defilement, teenage pregnancy and early marriages. Ends
