By Raynel Kanyambu Colonel. Kahinda Otafire (pictured left), a parliamentary candidates for Ruhinda county, Bushenyi district, has said he went to the Democratic Republic of Congo to defend his constituents against attack by the Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebels. He told The New Vision recently that when the ADF rebels entered the sub-counties of Kiyanga and Bitereko in Ruhinda, he had to go to Congo to fight them for the good of the nation. Otafire, also presidential military adviser on the DRC, criticised his opponents for accusing him of having gone to Congo and ignored his electorate. "These people are misleading the people that going to the DRC has denied them representation. They should know that I have put my life at risk to go there and defend their lives," Otafire said. In a reportedly tight race, Otafire is competing against Engineer, Nathan Kapeere, and Dr. Hosea Muhanguzi, a Makerere University lecturer. Otafire said that despite going to the DRC, he has been able to meet the essential expectations of his people more than his critics have. He asked the residents to vote for him to enable him complete his projects like rural electrification. Ends
