ELECTIONS for district women representatives to Parliament are scheduled for today throughout the country, reports John Kakande.

ELECTIONS for district women representatives to Parliament are scheduled for today throughout the country, reports John Kakande. One hundred seventy one candidates are vying for 53 parliamentary seats out of which six candidates including the Minister of State for Primary Education, Mrs. Namirembe Bitamazire, have already been declared elected unopposed. Voting is supposed to start at 7: 00am and end at 5:00pm. There will be one polling centre in each parish, according to Alice Muwanguzi, the deputy Director of Information and spokesperson at the Movement Secretariat. Ten ministers are contesting countrywide. They are; Miria Matembe for Mbarara, Ruth Nankabirwa for Kiboga, Betty Akech for Gulu, Rebecca Kadaga Alitwala for Kamuli, Jane Frances Kuka for Kapchorwa, Benigna Mukiibi for Kibale, Betty Okwir for Lira, Sarah Kiyingi Namusoke for Rakai, Catherine Mavenjina Akumu for Nebbi and Beatrice Wabudeya for Sironko. Muwanguzi said the electoral colleges, for the women elections, include LC1, 2 and 3 officials, village women council executives, and parish women councillors. Ends
