Nakaseke Voting Ends Peacefully

ELECTIONS in Nakaseke and other parts of Luweero district were peaceful despite earlier worries that violence would erupt.

The army was deployed in the area to maintain peace, the Luweero DPC Irene Tibaza, said. She said there were no reports of violence. Four politicians are vying for the seat which was represented by the late Pascal Mukasa. Energy minister Syda Bbumba, Major Jerome Bwende, the former Uganda Posts and Telecommunication Corporation Managing Director Sempala-Mbuga and R. Kafeero are vying for the seat. Earlier predictions indicated Bbumba in the lead in most parts of the constituency. Violence marred campaigns which led to the arrest and detention of Bwende. He was released. Ends
