PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Political Affairs Maj. Ronald Kakooza Mutale (pictured right) has refuted claims that he was involved in the arrests of Mbarara MP-elect Winnie Byanyima's sisters at the weekend, writes Kezio Musoke. Mutale yesterday told The New Vision on phone from Mbarara that the Police chief, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala, had no right to chase him from any part of the country because he was mobilising for Movement candidates as a special assignment from President Yoweri Museveni. The press reported earlier this week that Mutale's men were involved in the arrests of Martha and Edith Byanyima and candidate Byanyima's agents. The press also reported that the Police chased Mutale from Mbarara. Mutale said he left Mbarara on Monday morning for Busia to mobilise against former presidential candidate Aggrey Awori. He on Tuesday travelled back to Mbarara to await the election results. Mutale also dismissed ethics and integrity minister Miria Matembe's claims that he was working without the consent of the President. He said he was not trying to protect his own interests but the Movement's. "I have travelled 600km between Busia and Mbarara. What do I gain from this. Is it because I am fighting for something that I have never got? I am fighting for the right cause of the Movement," he said. Ends
