THE Electoral Commission has asked the election losers who are petitioning for recount of votes to go to court.

By John Kakande THE Electoral Commission has asked the election losers who are petitioning for recount of votes to go to court. The commission chairman, Hajji Aziz Kasujja, in a statement issued yesterday, said the commission does not handle the petitions seeking vote recounts. "The Electoral Commission would like to advise all complainants in the recently concluded parliamentary elections that section 56 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, 2001, entitles them to apply to the Chief Magistrate for a recount of votes," Kasujja said. A number of losers, including Ngoma Ngime who was defeated by Winnie Byanyima for the Mbarara Municipality seat, have called for a recount of votes. The commission yesterday released the list of the directly-elected MPs and those for the special interest groups. The results for Bunyole county have not yet been declared. Ends
