By Daniel Saire THE National Football League Committee, NFLC, and referees yesterday agreed to work together to fight violence during matches. This was reached during a meeting held at FUFA headquarters in Nakulabye that was chaired by NFLC vice chairman Livingston Lajan. Referees through their body FUFRA had accused FUFA of failure to help them in the wake of rampant crowd violence, which has threatened their lives. Aggrey Kabenge, FUFRA secretary, said the NFLC agreed to enforce the law that require home teams to provide adequate security during matches. Those who fail would be punished. The meeting also gave a go ahead to FIFA referee Fred Wanyama to take legal action against Mbarara player Moses Muyindo who cracked his jaw after head butting him during a match against KCC at Namboole. The meeting also blamed referees who give partial reports about matches. Kabenge cited the example of the KCC-Mbarara match where the referee Siraj Katono mentioned only two players to have fought. "Those who watched the match saw all players chase the referee and we expected all of them to be punished as a deterrent," he said. Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police Major General Katumba Wamala has invited sports administrators to a meeting today to discuss the escalating violence at stadia. Those to attend the meeting at Lugogo sports headquarters include NCS, FUFA, NFLC and referees representatives. Kabenge said FUFRA had assigned Ali Waiswa and retired FIFA referee George Katumba Wamala to attend the meeting on their behalf. Ends
