A total of 216 pugilists yesterday weighed for the national schools boxing championship that starts today at 1.00pm at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Missing in action among the 11 schools that registered with Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) is defending champion, Dynamic secondary school. UABF secretary Issa Odongkara said it was a good turn-up and the one-week competition ends on Sunday. Meanwhile, the UABF executive meeting called on Saturday to sort out the missing sh3.4m after the King's cup tournament, flopped after members failed to turn up. "I waited for the executive members to come, but none turned up. The federation wants to find out the truth about the money," said Odongkara said. The treasurer Patrick Sendijja has not yet provided receipts on how he spent the sh2m from gate collections, sh800,000 from Buganda government and sh600,000 from Hima Cement towards the tournament won by the national boxing side, the Bombers. Three foreign nations, Kenya, Tanzania and Gabon turned up for the one-week AIBA - International Amateur Boxing Association - ranking championship at Lugogo. Ends
