Schools Close Down

Sir Samuel Baker School was yesterday closed after students went on strike. This is the fourth school to close in the north within a week.

By Justin Moro and Dennis Ojwee Sir Samuel Baker School was yesterday closed after students went on strike. This is the fourth school to close in the north within a week. Gulu District Education Officer Michael Ochan Ongom and the Regional Police Commander, Marshall Odur, confirmed the closure of the four schools. Ochan said the school had been closed until further notice. The other three schools which have also closed are Comboni College in Lira, Kitgum High School, and Pajule Technical School in Pader district. Odur said the closure followed a meeting by the board of governors. Students went on strike complaining of the poor feeding and sanitation. Five students of Sir Samuel Baker who were beaten by fellow students are admitted to Gulu Hospital. Ends
