By Hillary Nsambu and Edith Kimuli THE Speaker of Toro Parliament, the Rev. Clovis Kyalimpa, yesterday said some Batoro have a grudge against John Katuramu, accusing him of having an affair with the Queen Mother, Best Kemigisa. Kyalimpa, who was Katuramu's witness, told court that during the Orukurato general meeting of August 1, 1988, several accusations were levelled against Katuramu, including claims that he had sexual relations with Kemigisa. "In the meeting, I heard that Katuramu had sexual relations with the Queen Mother and that is why they wanted to remove him," he said. Kyalimpa said the meeting was not explosive and the members were sober. It is alleged in the said meeting that Katuramu threatened Prince Kijanangoma's life. Kyalimpa, who said Katuramu was still the Prime Minister of Toro, said in the same meeting, there was a document written by Princess Mable Komuntale and Kijanangoma, soliciting signatures of the members for the removal of Katuramu as premier. Katuramu had earlier testified that the murder charges against him were framed by people who wanted to take over the kingdom. Katuramu, who was giving his defence on charges of murdering Kijanangoma, said there was a clique in the kingdom that wanted him to cease to be a regent of the kingdom and premier. "By planting these charges against me, they are keeping me out of the kingdom forever and they want to kill me through this court," Katuramu told Justice J. B. Katutsi. Katuramu, 46, who gave unsworn statement, said he was a businessman who did not deal in killing people. He denied killing Kijanangoma and Stephen Kaganda, a security guard. The two were gunned down on March 25, 1999 at Palace View Bar in Fort Portal town. "I did not participate in anyway in the killing of the two men. All the allegations by the State and the witnesses levelled against me were fabricated, false and absolutely baseless," he said. He denied paying sh6m to the assailants as alleged by one of the witnesses. He said Patrick Kwezi, who allegedly co-ordinated the plot of killing Kijanangoma, was his nephew, but he stopped dealing with him when he ran away from school. Ends
