By Darious Magara Rukiga county MP Jack Sabiiti has denounced the reported subversive activities of Lt. Col. Anthony Kyakabale, a UPDF officer living in self-imposed exile in Rwanda. Sabiiti in a three-page July 20 letter to Mr. Manzi Tumubweine, his defeated parliamentary opponent, said, "Lt. Col. Kyakabale having supported me doesn't in anyway mean that I knew his plans or that I concur with his activities. "Although he was a member of your task force (Manzi) in the past, he has never been a member of my task force." The letter added, "He (Kyakabale) supported me like any other constituent of Rukiga but I vehemently dissociate my goodself from his subversive activities." Sabiiti alleged that Kyakabale campaigned for Manzi during the Constituent Assembly delegates election in 1994 and the parliamentary elections in 1996. Sabiiti accused Tumubweine of linking him to Kyakabale before the President. He said Tumubweine was ruthlessly 'witch-hunting' the youth who supported him. He said some of them were in detention and their cases were before the court. Sabiiti said Tumubweine should concede defeat and that if he had to lobby to be retained as minister, he needed not to have used him to advance his interests. Manzi could not be got for a comment. The letter was copied to the President, Minister for the Presidency, Minister for Security, and the Special Advisor to the President on Political Affairs. It was also copied to the Chief of Military Intelligence, the Director of Internal Security Organisation, the RDC (Kabale) and the district security officer Kabale. Ends
