FUFA names 48 refs to handle Super League

FUFA’s referee appointments committee has appointed 48 referees to officiate the second round of the Nile Special Super League that kicks off August 9.

By Daniel Saire FUFA’s referee appointments committee has appointed 48 referees to officiate the second round of the Nile Special Super League that kicks off August 9. It was learnt that the list with 18 center referees and 30 assistants would be submitted to FUFA’s referee’s sub-committee for approval today. “We are trying to fight poor officiation and all of them were appointed on merit,” said a FUFA source. It was also established that the committee was considering giving out appointment letters for all matches at a go. The source said they were trying to implement advice given to them by FIFA instructor Wilfried Heitmann who was in the country recently. The German said referees should be informed about matches to officiate in advance to enable them prepare, as was the case with FIFA. The center referees include seven with FIFA badges. They are Yusuf Awuye, Siraj Katono, Arthur Bukenya, Haruna Kebba, Kakooza Mutagubya, Catherine Adipo and Margaret Kubingi. Others are Fred Mufta, Muzafar Ziraba, Ali Kalyango, Muhamad Segonga, Brian Nsubuga, Andrew Kiyingi, Festus Kirumira, Asaph Katende, Fred Kiyingi Sulaiman Matovu and Sendyowa. The assistants include: Ali Tomusange, Asuman Kityo, Nelson Mubanda, Fred Wanyama, Haruna Mpangire, David Katabira, Rose Ramuyamba and Florence Semambo. Others are Samuel Kayondo, Hillary Kimbugwe, Frank Mpawulo, Yahaya Kitti, Ali Sekimwanyi, Elias Kaggwa, Musa Balikoowa, George Kabwemukya, Ssali Tamale, David Kalema, Jamil Kasenge, Paul Mayanja and Dennis Ojwee. The rest are Hussein Bugembe, Vicky Mwanje, Libard Masembe John Byaruhanga, Kikabi and Mulisho. The three other names could not be established by yesterday. It was however reported that some well-known referees were sidelined for various reasons. These ones include Ronnie Kalema, Abdalla Kayiwa, Abbey Kawooya, Said Kiwanuka and Ojok Nyeko. Ends
