By Edris Kisambira ABDU Katuntu, one of the lawyers representing Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu, the former managing director of Greenland Bank, has said he has not quit the case as earlier on reported. An August 4 letter from his Katuntu and Company Advocates chambers addressed to The New Vision and signed by himself said, “This is to advise and confirm to you that our Abdu Katuntu has not quit the case. He still represents the client.” The statement added, “He has missed a few hearings due to the busy work schedule he had upcountry but on all such occasions with the full knowledge and consent of the client.” It was reported on Saturday that Katuntu, who is also Bugweri county MP, had withdrawn from representing Kiggundu in a criminal case in which he is on trial for causing financial loss of sh75m and illegally lending out sh36b. It was reported that Katuntu had quit the case following disagreements on the strategies of the case between his client and all the other lawyers representing the former Bank of Uganda governor. Kiggundu’s other lawyers are Remmy Kasule of Kawanga, Kasule and Company Advocates, Nasser Lumweno of Nasser Lumweno and Company Advocates, Caleb Alaka and Elias Lukwago of Abaine, Lukwago, Alaka and Spencer Advocates.
