Three Members of Parliament have written to President Yoweri Museveni, asking him to address Parliament within 14 days over allegations that the Uganda Commercial Bank Limited has been sold, write John Odyek and Cyprian Musoke. John Ken Lukyamuzi (Lubaga South) and Michael Mabikke (Makindye East) in a press conference at Parliament yesterday, said if Museveni does not appear within the period, he will be impeached under Article 107 (1) of the Constitution. They accused Museveni, his brother Maj. Gen Salim Saleh and his wife Jovia Saleh and the President’s son Lt. Kainerugaba Muhoozi of messing up the divestiture of UCBL. They refused to say who is reported to have bought the bank, saying Museveni would do so when he appears. Mabikke criticised MPs for behaving like they were presidential appointees for not challenging the President and his family’s involvement in corruption scandals. Ssebuliba Mutumba (Kawempe South) said any minister involved in the sale of UCBL would be censured. Ends
