Museveni wants Iran tractors

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has invited the Iranian Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMCO) to build an assembling plant in Uganda.

By Solomon Muyita PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has invited the Iranian Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMCO) to build an assembling plant in Uganda. Museveni, who was on official visit to Iran, made the invitation on Saturday while visiting the ITMCO plant in Tabriz city in Azerbaijan province, 900 kilometres north-west of Tehran. the plant offers over 10,000 jobs. “The establishment of a tractor assembling plant in Uganda will go a long way to enhance the country’s agricultural activities,” Museveni said. State House said in a statement on Saturday that Museveni had a guided tour of the plant. He was accompanied by Third Deputy Premier James Wapakhabulo, trade and industry minister Prof. Edward Rugumayo and Dr. Kidhu Makubuya for education and sports. Museveni, who ended his four-day visit to Iran was seen off at Tabriz Airport by the Governor General, Mohammed Zadeh.
