Ten year old boy catches 25kg Nile Perch

By Betty Enangu TEN-year-old Josh Outram was the star on Sunday when he emerged winner in the Ndugu fishing competition at Entebbe sailing club. Outram, the youngest winner ever of the fishing competition, did not only receive the top prize for catching the heaviest fish but also the heaviest fish caught by a child . He caught a Nile Perch weighing 25 kilograms. “I feel so great for winning this title,’ said an excited Outram as he received his trophy and prizes from Sports state minister Henry Oryem Okello. The Kenyan pupil who started fishing five years ago, said he also enjoys playing cricket, rugby and swimming. Shane Andrada finished second, catching a Nile perch weighing 18 kilograms. The fishing contest sponsored by Multiple Industries, was a great success. Eleven boats entered, which is a record for this year, and results were varied. Conditions for the day started with heavy seas in the morning but became calm by late afternoon, and skies were overcast for most of the day. Fishermen described conditions as "fair" for the event. Multiple Industries limited, leading manufactures of quality water pipes and fittings, sponsored the event to the tune of sh3m. Happy Hooker won the best boat category with Mona Lisa and Shitot finishing second and third respectively. General manager Multiple Industries Rajeeva Tripathi promised to increase sponsorship in sport and other activities like health and education programmes. Rajeeva said the aim of the competition was to bring members of different communities together. Overall results Heaviest Fish: 1. Josh Outram, 25.0kg. 2. Shane Andrada, 18.0kg. 3.
