THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala, has said only competent firms with proven capacity will be licensed to operate security business.
He was yesterday meeting members of the Uganda Private Security Association (UPSA) in Kampala.
The meeting was to enhance co-operation and understanding between the Police and private security organisations. It was attended by top Police officers and managers of various security organisations.
Wamala said many security firms looked at private security as a quick way of making money and as a result such companies were not prepared to under take the necessary investment in personnel and equipment.
“Our approach will be to ensure that only competent firms with proven capacity are licensed to operate.
