By Dennis Ojwee Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels on Tuesday called the Gulu Resident District Commissioner, Musa Ecweru, on mobile phone and disassociated themselves from the Monday bus ambush. five people were killed and over 22 injured in the ambush which took place on the Gulu-Adjumani road near Pabbo protected camp. Ecweru told journalists that the incident would undermine the peace process in Acholi. He visited the ambush victims in the surgery ward and the intensive care units in St. Mary’s hospital Lacor. Ecweru said an LRA commander whom he declined to name called him on Tuesday night and disassociated the LRA rebels from ambushing the Ayo Kabia Express Company bus as stated by security officials in Gulu. He said, “Yes it is true that one of the LRA commanders rang me and said they were not the ones who ambushed the bus. But I strongly believe that it must be the LRA group which is not associated with the ongoing peace and reconciliation process.” “I cannot be contented with the LRA disassociation from the ambush until they tell us who did it because they must be aware,” Ecweru said.
