Residents of Kisaasi in Kawempe division were disappointed when President Museveni failed to show up during the launch of Mama FM, a radio station in the village. The radio was launched on August 24. Talk doing the rounds throughout the week was that the President was going to be the chief guest at the launch. If he had made it, this would have been history because he was going to be the first Ugandan president to visit such a humble village. “I knew this was just a lie, how can the President visit such a dusty village?” one resident was heard asking, just after ministers Syda Bumba and Miria Matembe were announced as the chief guests. “I think he did not come because this is a multi-partyist area,” another resident quipped. However, this one’s views were trashed by another. “That cannot be the reason. Has the President not visited areas like Lubaga that are known to be full of staunch multipartyists?” someone challenged. Ends
