CROCODILES reported to be multiplying at high rates in Lake Edward and George have caused a drastic drop in the fishing industry in the districts

By John Nzinjah CROCODILES reported to be multiplying at high rates in Lake Edward and George have caused a drastic drop in the fishing industry in the districts of Bushenyi and Kasese. The chairman of the Lake Victoria and George Rehabilitation Committee John Tinkasimire Makasi, said on Tuesday, “We tried our best to rehabilitate the two lakes but the problem is that crocodiles are teeming in them. “They have distabilised the aquatic habitat, even human life along the shores of the lakes.” He also said corruption among some workers of the department of fisheries in the two districts had frustrated some of the programmes of his committee. He said such workers connive with the people and engage in illegal fishing practices.
