THE Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Christopher Iga, has said there is no rebel recruitment in the district

THE Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Christopher Iga, has said there is no rebel recruitment in the district as reported in the press, reports Raynel Kanyambu. Iga, who is the head of the district security committee, said on Friday that his security network had found no truth in the press rumour. “We held a security meeting and found out that no one has gone missing and specifically to join the rebel ranks as newspapers have been reporting in the last few days,” Iga said. He told the press from his office that they had resolved to be on the look out, following reports that neighbouring districts of Mbarara, Kasese and Rukungiri have been recruiting rebels. “To avoid being taken by surprise, we have invited all LC3 chairpersons, sub-county chiefs, GISOs and other security leaders to map out a scheme to prevent the recruitment,” he said. In another development, there was a fresh deployment of UPDF soldiers in Bushenyi areas bordering the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Security sources said on Friday that two battalions, the 43rd and 79th, were deployed over the last weeks. Iga said, this was normal deployment to fight ADF rebels.
