Youngsters shine in Dar sailing

Two Kabira International School pupils Laerke and Lars Fjord Garvey put up an outstanding show in the 18th British Airways

By Vision Repoter Two Kabira International School pupils Laerke and Lars Fjord Garvey put up an outstanding show in the 18th British Airways Laser Open in Dar es Salaam last week. Laerke,10, and Lars Fjord Garveyi also contested the Optimist Race against the local children and came second and third respectively in the advanced class. All the sailors from Uganda are members of the Victoria Nyanza sailing club at Kaazi. Erik Bergh (Norwegian) won the Masters Class, Stephen Luswata (Ugandan) was second in the Apprentice Class and he was closely followed by Reint Bakema (Dutch). Sarah Searle (British) second in the ladies section. Annie Fjord (Danish) and Gerry Garvey (British) were competing for the first time. The three-day event, was won by experienced Kenyan Simon Woods. Luswata (8th) was the highest placed Ugandan.
