THREE people including a teacher have been detained by Police in connection with two alleged defilement cases and attempted rape that occurred over the weekend.

Steven Tembo, a teacher at Rwenzori Progressive School, was arrested on Saturday, after allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl from a neighbouring school. Police in Ibanda Bugoye sub-county, Kasese district, on Monday said the suspect had been transferred to Kasese town. In another incident, a Kilembe Mines porter, James Monde, was arrested on Sunday in connection with an alleged defilement involving a 13-year-old P7 pupil at Kilembe Junior School. A child rights advocate in the area, Godfrey Kamanzi, said he and LCs effected Monde’s arrest and handed him over to the Police. Kamanzi told The New Vision that the suspect lured his victim to take waragi before forcing her into sex. Ends
