BY DOUGLAS MAZUNE THE ladies sprint will be part of a fundraising drive for former national champion Emma Katto to pay off $100,000 (about sh250m) to recover his Subaru Impreza WRC. “Many people have approached me, they don’t want our car to be sold and I think we can make it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about, it is our sport and we must develop it,” Katto said . “If 1000 people contribute sh10000 each, that is already sh100m” He said he would be able to get sponsorship for next season. Katto finished second in the Castrol Independence rally. He fought off a couple of mechanical problems to finish in a rally won by Moses Lumala. “The boys have improved a lot but there is a big gap between our grade and them, it is not only Kuku, I overtook many other drivers in the section,” Katto said. “The level of competition now is very high but the boys still have a long way to go.” ekomye
