THE ladies sprint will be part of a fundraising drive for former national champion Emma Katto to pay off $100,000 (about sh250m) to recover his Subaru Impreza WRC.
“Many people have approached me, they don’t want our car to be sold and I think we can make it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about, it is our sport and we must develop it,†Katto said . “If 1000 people contribute sh10000 each, that is already sh100mâ€
He said he would be able to get sponsorship for next season.
Katto finished second in the Castrol Independence rally. He fought off a couple of mechanical problems to finish in a rally won by Moses Lumala.
“The boys have improved a lot but there is a big gap between our grade and them, it is not only Kuku, I overtook many other drivers in the section,†Katto said. “The level of competition now is very high but the boys still have a long way to go.â€
