Mrs Namirembe Bitamazire, the state minister for primary education has commissioned the building of classroom blocks, in the district. The classrooms will be built by government under the UPE programme. The schools to benefit are Ntungamo and Katonya in Igara East and Bugongi central school in Sheema south. While addressing stakeholders at the schools, Bitamazire said though government is committed to quality education, contractors are letting them down by producing shoddy work in most instances. She said that school management committees were not committed to supervising the contractors and warned that they would be prosecuted too. Mr Norman Lukumo, the DEO said that through TDMS Classroom Completion Grant (CCG), and School facility grant (SFC), the district has been able to finish and furnish over 600 classroom blocks. He also hailed parents for their contribution.
